Terms of Service

Dougout, operated by Grove Digital Inc. · Effective October 15, 2026

1. Acceptance & eligibility

By creating an account or using Dougout you agree to these terms. You must be at least 13 years old. One account per person.

2. What Dougout is (and isn't)

Dougout is a budgeting habit game: you enter your own numbers, log your own spending, and grow a virtual tree that reflects your consistency.

Dougout is not financial advice. Dougout is not a bank, financial institution, or adviser. All figures are entered by you and shown back to you for motivation and information only. Decisions about your money are yours.

3. Your account

Keep your sign-in credentials safe — you're responsible for activity on your account. Provide a real email address so account recovery works.

Signing out clears Dougout's data from that device — the saved dougout, the cached copies and your sign-in session — so nothing of yours is left for the next person using it. Your cloud save restores it when you sign back in. Because that clearing is real, Dougout backs your dougout up first and checks the backup landed: if it can't, you stay signed in and nothing is cleared, and we say so rather than trading your unsynced data for a sign-out. If your browser refuses to release something after the session has already ended, we tell you what remains and how to clear it, instead of claiming a wipe we can't prove.

4. Acceptable use

There is no tolerance for offensive content or abusive behaviour in Dougout. You can report or block another player from their dougout or from an incoming friend request. We read every report, and we remove names and suspend or terminate accounts that break these rules. If you need to reach us about somebody, email support@dougout.money.

5. Virtual items

Lumina, gold, badges, cosmetics and other in-game items are game features with no monetary value. They can't be sold, transferred, or redeemed for money, and we may rebalance game mechanics as Dougout evolves.

Some cosmetics come with Dougout Plus rather than being earned — the six regional Doug outfits. They are available while your Plus subscription is active, including the rest of a period you have already paid for after you cancel. When it ends, Doug goes back to his default outfit and those six stop being available until you subscribe again. Anything you earned by playing stays yours.

6. Dougout Plus (paid subscription)

Dougout offers an optional paid tier, Dougout Plus. Current pricing and any free-trial terms are always shown in the app before you commit. The free tier remains a complete product.

How you're billed depends on where you subscribe.

Cancelling. A subscription bought in the iOS app can only be cancelled through Apple — in the app, YOU → your @handle → SETTINGS → ACCOUNT → MANAGE APP STORE SUBSCRIPTION, or directly at apps.apple.com/account/subscriptions. A subscription bought on the web is cancelled through the Stripe customer portal — in the web app at app.dougout.money, YOU → your @handle → SETTINGS → ACCOUNT → MANAGE WEB SUBSCRIPTION. Either way, cancelling takes effect at the end of the paid period and you keep access until then. We don't offer partial refunds for unused time; refunds for App Store purchases are handled by Apple under Apple's policies.

Deleting your account is not the same as cancelling. When you delete your Dougout account we cancel any Dougout Plus subscription you bought on the web first, and if we can't complete that cancellation we stop and don't delete the account. Deleting your account does not cancel a subscription bought in the iOS app — only you can do that, through Apple. Cancel it through Apple first, or Apple will keep charging you for a Dougout account that no longer exists.

7. Your content

You own your data. By submitting feedback you give us permission to use it to improve Dougout. Your handle and shared milestones are visible to friends per the Privacy Policy.

8. Our content

Dougout's artwork, characters (including Doug the mole), code, and branding belong to Grove Digital Inc. You may not copy or reuse them outside the app without permission.

9. Disclaimers & liability

Dougout is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Grove Digital Inc.'s total liability for any claim related to the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

10. Termination

You can delete your account at any time in the app (YOU → your @handle → SETTINGS → ACCOUNT → DANGER ZONE → DELETE ACCOUNT). If you signed in to the community board with Apple or Google without a Dougout account, that login has no in-app deletion: email support@dougout.money and we’ll delete it. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms. Sections 5, 7, 8, 9, 13 and 14 survive termination.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of British Columbia, Canada, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.

12. Changes

We may update these terms; material changes will be noted in the app with an updated effective date. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms.

13. If you got Dougout from the App Store

These terms are between you and Grove Digital Inc., not Apple. Apple is not responsible for Dougout or its contents, and has no obligation to give you any support or maintenance for it. If Dougout doesn't do what we say it does, you can tell Apple, and Apple will refund what you paid for it; beyond that refund, Apple has no warranty obligation to you. Grove Digital Inc., not Apple, is responsible for any product-liability claim, for any claim that Dougout fails to meet a legal requirement, and for any claim that Dougout infringes somebody's intellectual property. By using Dougout you confirm you are not in a country under a U.S. embargo and are not on a U.S. prohibited-parties list. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.

14. Community board

The community board at dougout.money/community is where you can suggest ideas, vote on improvements and report bugs.
